...We met Papa at the Caffe Trieste in Berkeley in
August of 2007 and were immediately taken by this truly incredible
man. He welcomed us like his own family as we sat and shared
stories from his life over the best Cappuccini in the Bay
Area. Papa is not shy about sharing his life including the
terrible hardship he endured as a child and later during World War
II when he faced death many times. His journey to America in
the early 1950's is truly inspiring as he struggled to make a new
home for himself and his family.
We made early plans to begin documenting these
wonderful stories and soon discovered this project and began in
early September to formulate a documentary. Il Sogno Del
Pescatore tells the story of Giovanni Giotta through his many
stories as well as interviews with friends, family, and celebrities.
